I so love that line spoken by Timon in “The Lion King”. So much said in only two words.
I actually started this blog in October of 2010. I made two posts (deleted yesterday) and stopped. I have this CDO (OCD, but put in alphabetical order of course!) thing about doing everything in Chronological Order. Chronological Order is so important to me that I actually have to capitalize the phrase. I have this obsessive need to start at the beginning to explain how I got to where I am now. “Wait, what?! Explain? To whom?!” Yeah, exactly! I do have this aggravating tendency to feel the need to explaaaaaaaain all of my actions to everyone, and over the past year it dawned on me that I don’t!
You see, I started this blog as “Becoming Me” and my journey to figure out who and how I got to being what I am. While that might seem like a really great introspective exercise, I discovered that I am who I am. There’s some real brilliance there, huh? Seriously though, to put it in a nutshell: I went through a lot of crap to get to where I am today. I don’t want to go through all that again by writing it out. Been there, done that in REAL TIME.
So with all that in mind, I discovered a quote today that completely excited me. It is really and truly the best quote I have come across in quite some time.
There’ll be two dates on your tombstone and all your friends will read ’em but all that’s gonna matter is that little dash between ’em. ~Kevin Welch
It may seem morbid for me to be discussing tombstones and dates thereon, but that middle part… The DASH!! part… WOW! What an opportunity I have to make it GREAT and do it starting now!
Having said that, for those of you interested in keeping a wandering (or perhaps maybe bored?!) eye in this general blogging direction, I’m going to try to post something every day. We’ll see how that goes. I might warn you now, in case you didn’t notice, I have a proclivity for over-using commas and ellipses. It’s a thing, but obviously not a CDO thing. I’m also new to this blogging thing, so for now I’m off to play around with the page and figure out all the many (nifty? confusing? useless?) gadgets and widgets and such…
Go live your dash!
